NFC Identity Verification

In SCSoft’s identity verification solution, authentication can be carried out using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology via mobile devices equipped with NFC. NFC-based identity verification can be done particularly with new generation biometric chip identity cards or passports. The process generally involves the following steps:

1. NFC Compatibility: The user utilizes an NFC-enabled device (typically a smartphone or tablet). The NFC function on the device must be activated.
2. Capturing Photos of the Identity Document: For chip-enabled identity cards, photos of the front and back are taken. For passports, a photo of the page containing personal information is captured.
3. Scanning the Identity Card: The user brings the NFC chip-enabled identity document close to the NFC reading area of the device. NFC technology enables data transfer over a short distance.
4. Data Reading: Using NFC, the device reads the information (such as name, surname, date of birth, biometric photo, etc.) from the chip in the identity card.
5. Verification and AI Analysis:
   1. SCSoft’s identity verification software, supported by AI, compares the photo on the identity card with a live selfie taken at that moment.
   2. A liveness check is performed to ensure that a fake photo is not being used.
6. OCR and Additional Verification: The information scanned via NFC can also be verified through OCR (Optical Character Recognition) technology. The software reads the text on the card and matches it with the data retrieved from the chip.
